The Senior Engineer for Transit Asset Management (TAM), reports to the Manager, Asset Management, and is responsible for administrating and implementing the Transit Asset Management Program for the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain). Essential Functions & Duties

Develop training materials and provide training to end users on new or modified EAM tools, standards, and processes. Ensure compliance with federal regulations, including FTA TAM Rule and applicable FRA requirements for federalized assets. Lead the development, implementation, and periodic update of Caltrain's Transit Asset Management Plan (TAMP). Develop and maintain asset lifecycle models, risk assessments, and decision support tools for investment prioritization. Monitor and evaluate performance metrics, including asset condition, reliability, and State of Good Repair (SGR). Apply reliability engineering and condition-based maintenance strategies using data from inspections, telemetry, and EAM systems. Oversee data governance practices to ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of asset information. Lead or support internal and external audits and compliance reviews related to asset management. Integrate asset management strategies with long-range capital planning and budget forecasting. Develop dashboards, reports, and visualization tools to communicate asset performance and investment needs. Examples of Essential Duties: Maintain and update Caltrain's asset inventory and hierarchy in compliance with federal and regional funding eligibility requirements. Coordinate and perform asset condition assessments and field inspections. Prepare asset change records to ensure auditability of additions, disposals, and modifications. Convert asset data for TERM Lite analysis and other performance modeling tools. Collaborate with Planning, Capital, Finance, and Operations teams to align asset strategies with program delivery. Support the development and refinement of business processes for asset inspections, maintenance tracking, and lifecycle management. Train end users on EAM tools, standards, and reporting procedures. Manage vendor and consultant deliverables related to asset management systems or data services. Prepare and submit accurate reports to regulatory and oversight agencies, including FTA, MTC, and FRA. Participate in capital project planning and procurement reviews to incorporate asset lifecycle and maintainability considerations. Monitor key performance indicators (e.g., MDBF, condition ratings, backlog) and recommend actions based on trends. Support safety and risk management initiatives through proactive asset condition monitoring and analysis. Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one's self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development ofthe required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field Four (4) years of experience in project management, engineering, maintenance in transit, railroad, utility, or related government agencies. Equivalent work experience may substitute for formal education Preferred Qualifications: MCSE or MCSA certification Experience in asset management, GIS, database systems, and EAM platforms Strong written and verbal communication skills The selection process may include a panel interview, written and skills test assessments, or supplemental questions.
