Closing Date: 10/15/2025 Position Purpose A School Counseling Intern supports the delivery of a comprehensive school counseling program by assisting with services that promote student success in academics, social-emotional development, and career readiness. Under the supervision of a licensed school counselor, the intern collaborates with students, staff, families, and the community to learn how to deliver equitable, data-informed, and developmentally appropriate services that promote success for each student.

Responsibilities Collaborate with supervisors, colleagues, students, parents/guardians, and community resources to support the developmental needs of students. Assists in promoting the knowledge, attitudes, and skills students need to achieve academic success, college and career readiness, and social/emotional development through direct and indirect student services. Provides responsive services to meet students' immediate needs and concerns. Participates in building-level crisis response and observes crisis team practices, as appropriate. Assists with orientation and transition activities for students new to the school. Supports educational programs for parents/guardians and students, as assigned. Observes and assists in the interpretation of cognitive, aptitude, and achievement tests, as appropriate. Attends building and district-level meetings (e.g., MTSS, IEP, 504, PLC) to learn about collaborative school processes. Participates in all mandatory training as required by the district. Contributes to a safe, positive, and supportive educational environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a master's degree program in School Counseling. Foundational knowledge of counseling theory, child development, and educational practices. Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families. Ability to read, interpret, and apply professional literature, program guidelines, and school/district policies. Basic data analysis skills, including the ability to interpret assessments and use data to inform decision-making under supervision. Problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to varied situations and follow directions in a school setting. Competence with technology, including use of common computer applications for communication, documentation, and presentations. Commitment to professional growth and to upholding ethical standards in school counseling.
