Closing Date: 10/15/2025 Position Purpose This internship provides a structured field placement experience for students enrolled in a CSWE-accredited Bachelor's or Master's in Social Work program and is designed to fulfill academic field requirements. The Social Work Intern will assist in delivering direct and indirect support to students and families, gain experience in multidisciplinary teamwork, and develop foundational social work competencies under close supervision.
Responsibilities Assist with student/family assessments and support the development of intervention or care plans. Provide emotional and practical support to students and families under supervision. Coordinate with school staff and community partners to connect clients with appropriate resources. Maintain confidential and accurate documentation of services and observations. Participate in team meetings and case discussions, offering observations and learning from feedback. Observe and, when appropriate, assist with crisis intervention or support. Support school- or district-based programming, including educational workshops or group sessions.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrollment in a CSWE-accredited Bachelor's or Master's in Social Work program, in good standing. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all settings. Commitment to ethical social work practice and a willingness to learn in a real-world environment. Dependability, initiative, and flexibility to meet the needs of the site placement.
Supervision & Structure:
Receive weekly one-on-one supervision from a licensed social worker to integrate theory with practice. Participate in group supervision or field seminars when available. Follow district, site, and university policies and procedures, including those related to safety, confidentiality, and documentation.
Learning Objectives & Development: By the conclusion of the internship, the intern will:
Apply social work knowledge in real-world practice under supervision. Build skills in client engagement, assessment, and intervention planning. Develop professional collaboration and documentation skills. Reflect on ethical decision-making and practice considerations. Integrate academic learning with practical, hands-on experience.
