JOB SUMMARY
The Engineer - Data Visualizations & Insights supports the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and reports across organization. This role works with business users and analysts to translate data requirements into interactive, accurate, and visually engaging reports. The Engineer helps ensure that key stakeholders have access to timely, user-friendly insights on academic, financial, and operational performance.
EXPERIENCE & EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's degree in business analytics, computer science, information systems, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may substitute for formal education. • Minimum of 3 years in dashboard/report development or business intelligence. Experience with education or public-sector reporting preferred • Power BI development experience including DAX and data modeling • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics and enterprise datasets • Basic SQL skills and comfort working with large data models • Strong attention to detail and layout/visualization design sense
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
None. Works under direction of Senior Engineers and the Director.
Responsibilities: • Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric datasets. • Translate business requirements into clean, functional report layouts with intuitive filters and visuals • Collaborate with analysts, data architects, and department staff to define KPIs and business rules. • Ensure dashboards are visually consistent, accurate, and adhere to accessibility standards. • Create and manage dataflows and shared datasets to support teamwide efficiency. • Assist with performance tuning, refresh scheduling, and monitoring of key reports. • Document dashboard logic, filters, data sources, and assumptions. • Respond to user feedback and help train departments in basic self-service analytics. • Participate in user testing and rollout of new dashboards. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. • Resolves data display errors, refresh failures, and layout issues. Collaborates to address unclear or inconsistent metrics. • Interacts with analysts, campus leaders, and central office users to clarify needs and deliver visual solutions. • Builds trust by providing intuitive, accurate dashboards that help users better understand performance metrics.
