Electrical Engineering Commissioning Technician Job Summary

The Electrical Engineering Commissioning Technician supports the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of vessel electrical systems. Working closely with engineering and production, this role ensures systems are commissioned safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Electrical Engineering Commissioning Technician Responsibilities Support commissioning of electrical systems including power distribution, alarm/monitoring, motors, AC drives, navigation and bridge controls.

Conduct on-site inspections, testing, and troubleshooting during vessel construction and refits.

Work with engineering staff to resolve technical issues identified during commissioning.

Coordinate with trades to ensure proper installation and functionality of equipment.

Verify vendor-supplied equipment installations and assist in system integration.

Document commissioning results, punch lists, and provide field reports.

Provide hands-on field support for electrical equipment start-up and testing. Electrical Engineering Commissioning Technician Position Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical training.

3-8 years

of electrical commissioning or maritime field service experience.

Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.

Familiarity with ABS and Coast Guard regulations.

Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in shipyard environments.

Experience with AC drives, motors, transformers, and marine electrical equipment.
