Lead a field crew to assist with meteorological and air quality monitoring. Be a key support person in the planning and implementation of the annual Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Cooperative (FEMC) December Conference. The Monitoring and Outreach Specialist will support two core programs of the FEMC. The first is the delivery of our Forest Health Monitoring summer field program. The member, with oversight from FEMC staff, will help plan and implement the summer field program and apply quality assurance and control procedures to field data collection and data entry. The second is the development and delivery of the annual FEMC Conference held in December each year. FEMC's mission is to serve the northeastern forest region through improved understanding of current conditions, long-term trends, and interdisciplinary relationships of the physical, chemical, biological and human components of forested systems. Our goal is to provide data, services, new products and tools to fill existing gaps in our knowledge and to forge connections among the many organizations, agencies, practitioners, researchers and decision makers working in northeastern forests. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. This position is Half Time Time: Requires 915 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 6 months. Member will receive a living allowance of $16,147(pre-tax) and an education award of $3,697.50 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties :

• Assist with planning and implementation of the summer field program; • Apply quality assurance and control procedures to field data collection and data entry through field and office tasks • Assist in developing the Annual Conference by planning logistics, identifying potential speakers, and soliciting participation in contributed talks, poster sessions and working group sessions for the conference. • Develop and deliver online and in-person training materials for the FEMC Data Archive, enabling the public to explore and understand the region's ecosystems. • Provide trainings to students in forest measurement techniques. • Attend events to promote the FEMC through presentations and tabling • Participate in an Independent Service Project under the guidance of VHCB AmeriCorps. • Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Program Initiatives & outreach activities to promote AmeriCorps. • Engage in professional and personal development activities and networking opportunities.
