JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner exclusively with a 4th Generation family-owned and operated manufacturing and wholesale operation of tobacco and wholesale distribution of petroleum across the United States with headquarters located in the Northern New York Region in search of a Chief Financial Officer. This (CFO) is a key executive leadership role at the heart of our company's strategic, operational, and financial direction. As our business grows and evolves, we are seeking a CFO who can move beyond traditional finance responsibilities to act as a strategic partner, driving commercial growth, operational efficiency, and scalable infrastructure. This individual will guide and enhance the finance function while helping overhaul and elevate the team to meet the demands of a modern, data-driven organization.

Responsibilities: Strategic & Executive Leadership

Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to shape and implement long-term strategic goals across the organization. Act as a key partner in growth initiatives including new markets, product lines, and M&A activity. Provide cross-functional leadership, ensuring finance is deeply integrated with operations, marketing, sales, and supply chain. Lead scenario planning, contingency modeling, and long-range financial forecasting. Financial Management & Oversight

Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal controls. Lead tax strategy, compliance, and multi-jurisdictional, including international filings, when applicable. Knowledge in flow through taxation. Oversee treasury functions, banking relationships, and working capital optimization. Manage internal and external audits, legal entity structuring, and Board-level financial communication. Commercial & Operational Finance

Drive customer and channel profitability analysis and support pricing and promotional strategy. Build financial models to support trade spend ROI, marketing effectiveness, and new product launches. Collaborate with sales and operations to integrate demand planning into revenue and margin forecasting. Provide rigorous financial input into CapEx planning, manufacturing performance, and inventory management. FP&A and Business Analytics

Lead a dynamic forecasting and budgeting process tied to business drivers, not static assumptions. Own scenario planning capabilities to support decision-making under uncertainty. Create and manage business intelligence dashboards to provide real-time insights to key stakeholders. Champion the use of Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools to automate reporting and increase visibility. Systems, Data, and Process Optimization

Oversee the financial systems roadmap, including ERP integration and automation of core reporting. Reduce manual processes while improving access to timely and accurate data. Drive improvements across cost accounting, COGS transparency, and variance tracking. Ensure data governance practices are embedded in finance processes. Organizational Leadership & Team Development

Assess and overhaul the current finance and operations team, ensuring the right talent is in the right roles. Attract, develop, and retain high-performing finance professionals with both analytical and business acumen. Create a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and accountability for financial outcomes. Serve as a coach and mentor across departments to elevate financial fluency and collaboration. Governance, Compliance & Legal

Lead corporate governance and compliance programs, including contract negotiation and risk mitigation. Oversee all business insurance Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for critical business functions. Partner with external legal counsel to manage legal matters, entity structuring, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA preferred. CPA, CMA, or NAFOA program completion highly desirable. 5+ years in a senior financial leadership role, ideally within CPG or manufacturing. Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and manufacturing financial operations. Demonstrated experience in business partnering, financial modeling, and data-driven decision-making. Familiarity with family-owned business dynamics and a hands-on leadership style. Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of financial systems and analytics tools. Ability to travel internationally and hold a valid driver's license. Experience in scaling financial operations during rapid growth or transformation. Proven track record in team development and performance management. Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools. Strategic involvement in pricing, S&OP, and innovation finance.
