Job Title:\n\nEstimator\n\nLocation: Northampton\n\nPay/Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 per year\n\nHours of Work: Full-time\n\nType: Permanent\n\nStart Date: Immediately (flexible for notice periods)\n\nWe are hiring for an Estimator\n\nWe are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team in Northampton. This is an opportunity to work on a variety of projects across drainage, groundworks, roofing, and construction sectors. You’ll be an important part of the business, helping to ensure projects are accurately costed, competitively priced, and profitable.\n\nDuties of an Estimator\n\nIn this role, you will be working within the estimating team to support tender submissions and project planning.
You will be responsible for:\n\nPreparing detailed cost estimates for civil engineering, groundworks, and drainage projects\n\nAnalysing drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive tenders\n\nLiaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations\n\nConducting site visits to assess conditions and gather data for pricing\n\nCollaborating with project managers and engineers to align estimates with delivery plans\n\nMonitoring market trends and pricing to maintain competitive bids\n\nAssisting in post-tender negotiations and value engineering exercises\n\nMaintaining and updating estimating databases and tools\n\nSkills and Experience of an Estimator\n\nAs an Estimator, you must have:\n\nProven experience working as an Estimator within the construction or drainage sector\n\nStrong understanding of UK construction methods, materials, and regulations\n\nProficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite\n\nExcellent numerical and analytical skills\n\nStrong communication and negotiation abilities\n\nAbility to manage multiple tenders independently\n\nFull UK driving licence ( for site visits)\n\nIt would be beneficial if you also had:\n\nHNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field\n\nMembership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB)\n\nWhat the Client Offers an Estimator\n\nThis role offers:\n\nGenuine progression opportunities based on performance and results\n\nDirect access to senior decision-makers\n\nA business that rewards initiative and values results over red tape\n\nThe opportunity to influence pricing and planning approaches\n\nSupportive and hard-working colleagues\n\nOn-site parking\n\nAbout the Client\n\nOur client is a growing medium-sized enterprise specialising in drainage, roofing, groundworks, and construction.
