Learn more HERE. The Position Napa County is currently recruiting to fill one Psychiatric Nurse vacancy within the Behavioral Health of Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA).
Under supervision, a Psychiatric Nurse provides professional nursing services to clients of the Behavioral Health Division. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working in the nursing field, with at least one of those years working with psychiatric clients. The ideal candidate will have an interest for caring for under-served population and will possess care and understanding for the mentally ill. A Psychiatric Nurse provides a variety of services and provides limited back-up and support to physicians as permitted by law. A Psychiatric Nurse also provides consultation, information and education to community groups, agencies and individuals on Behavioral Health programs and performs related work, as required.
The list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies up to one year. There is currently 1 (one) regular full-time vacancy. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Agreed Salary increases and Winter Time Off: 3.5% COLA increase effective 7/1/2026 32.0 hour of Winter Time-Off POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience and Education: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: Experience: Two years of professional nursing experience including one year of experience in psychiatric nursing.
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, preferably with a BSN, or Masters in Nursing. License or Certificate:*
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
*Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position. Loss of the required State licensure may result in termination or reassignment.
