Position Summary
The
Active Adult Engagement Coordinator
is responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing programs that promote Healthy Living and Social Responsibility for adults in the Mission community, including older adults (60+) and adults (18+) with disabilities. This position ensures that programs are delivered by staff, volunteers, and partners who are trained to provide high-quality, inclusive programming.
As part of the community programs team, the Coordinator will support their supervisor in maintaining and building collaborative relationships with community organizations to offer effective and meaningful services. The role supervises one full-time staff member, as well as volunteers and independent contractors, and works full-time (40 hours per week) in person, with responsibilities split between administrative tasks and direct service.
Job Responsibilities
Program Delivery & Community Engagement Develop, coordinate, and manage programs for older adults (60+) and adults with disabilities (18+). Oversee and expand the Active Adult steering committee. Recruit and welcome participants, ensuring an inclusive and supportive experience. Represent the YMCA in the community and build partnerships with other organizations. Staff & Volunteer Management
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise volunteers, instructors, and contractors. Provide coaching, support, and timely feedback to align with YMCA mission and values. Support professional development through training, workshops, and meetings. Administration & Compliance
Maintain accurate records for reporting, evaluation, and compliance. Supervise grant-related data management and support budget monitoring. Collect and report program surveys and participant feedback to funders. Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, safety standards, mandated reporting, and risk management. Fundraising & Strategic Goals
Support the Annual Giving Campaign and other fundraising events. Contribute to program forecasting and ensure grant compliance. Track program goals and outcomes, including service hours, translation services, and satisfaction metrics. Safety & Environment
Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants and staff. Maintain compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols and health standards. Leadership & Professional Growth
Provide program oversight in the absence of the District Director. Stay current with trends and best practices to keep programming innovative. Demonstrate YMCA values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility. Grow competencies in Cause-Driven Leadership: advancing the mission, building relationships, leading operations, and developing & inspiring others. Work Environment & Physical Demands
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. All YMCA employees share responsibility for the supervision and safety of minors. The Active Adult Engagement Coordinator position offers a compensation range of $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. This rate is based on salary benchmarking for similar roles and is aligned with grant fund approvals and requirements for the position.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Availability Monday-Friday during business hours. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Office 365. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Current YMCA-approved CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire). Completion of elder abuse prevention training (or willingness to complete upon hire) Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Salesforce or similar database systems. Bilingual skills in English and Cantonese and/or Mandarin (other language skills are a plus). Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Experience working with older adults and/or adults with disabilities. Strong customer service and communication skills. Y-USA Team Leader Certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire).
