UW Medical Center-Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). Work schedule is full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:45pm Day Shift. Infectious Disease Clinic at UW Medical Center - Northwest provides inpatient and outpatient consultations along with leading-edge diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of infections. Conditions we routinely treat include hepatitis B and C, HIV, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, hospital acquired infections, fungal infections, tuberculosis, cellulitis, sexually transmitted infections, surgical infections and travel-related illness. Primary job responsibilities include: rooming patients, taking vital signs, and reconciling records; performing injections; preparing and cleaning exam rooms; submitting medication prior authorizations; recognizing symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately reporting to provider; acting as a liaison between patient, patient's family and providers; assisting provider with procedures and medical exams; performing point of care testing and reporting abnormal laboratory values; and assisting in transporting patients as required. Requirements include: completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent; must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire; and valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card.
