Facilities Maintenance Technician

Purpose and Impact: Under the supervision of an assigned manager, your role will involve performing essential maintenance and repair duties to keep our facilities in top shape. This includes a variety of tasks such as carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing repairs. Please note that this is a non-direct care position and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work. Key Responsibilities: Conduct maintenance and repairs on assigned facilities by performing carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing tasks; handle both routine and emergency repairs. Install and repair electrical components, including lights and outlets. Fix and replace plumbing fixtures such as faucets and sinks. Engage in carpentry work to construct, install, and repair cabinets, windows, doors, and other fixtures while installing necessary hardware. Perform maintenance on equipment and facilities, such as changing air filters and minor HVAC repairs. Manage building security by unlocking/locking doors, operating alarms, and providing employee training on alarm systems. Assist in setup for meetings and events, moving furniture as necessary, and ensuring facility security. Maintain inventory of supplies and order necessary materials while receiving and storing them appropriately. Inspect buildings and grounds for repair needs and report any hazards. Carry out custodial duties to keep facilities clean, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing. Replace light fixtures and bulbs as needed for safety and visibility. Adhere to safe work practices and participate in safety training sessions. Maintain confidentiality regarding clients, families, and staff in line with established policies. Complete other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and stoop for extended periods. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly; assist with loads up to 75 pounds as needed. Comfortable working in diverse environmental conditions, including hot and cold settings. Ability to use ladders and scaffolding safely. Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment effectively. Visual acuity to read blueprints and manuals. Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems with familiarity in repair and maintenance standards. Proficient in using hand and power tools as well as maintenance tracking software. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively. Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required; post-secondary technical education is preferred. Experience: Two years of relevant experience in general maintenance, ideally in an institutional or educational setting. Licenses and Other Requirements: A valid Florida driver's license and necessary certifications to operate required vehicles.
