For over 50 years ABL Wholesale Distributors has been the premier single-source distributor serving retailers in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. We are currently seeking a Controller, the ideal person is detail-oriented, professional, and capable of handling confidential financial information with discretion.
Responsibilities
Manage the accounting team by assigning tasks, providing regular guidance, and handling employee performance reviews
Effectively manage department functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting; includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and auditing
Develop and maintain accounting procedures and policies to comply with internal controls, government regulations, and company standards
Manage monthly and year-end close process and preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and other analysis
Prepare and/or review reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
Perform monthly analysis for accounts and prepare necessary journal entries
Assist with any external audits to provide requested data and ensure compliance
Stay up-to-date with accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency
Assist with annual tax preparation
Provide back up as needed for customer credit approvals and payroll
Skills and Qualifications
Great interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards and regulations
Experience with accounting software and databases, AS400 is a plus
Superior data management and data analysis skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy
Work experience as a Controller or Finance Manager, preferably 2 or more years
Inventory control experience
Bachelors' degree in accounting, finance or related field
