Position Overview
1st Gen College Hub is seeking a dedicated and talented Volunteer Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team in developing and maintaining our comprehensive web and mobile platform. This platform is designed to empower first-generation college students by providing personalized guidance, college search tools, financial aid information, mentorship programs, and more. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and education, with a commitment to ensuring the platform remains efficient, secure, and scalable. Key Responsibilities
Oversee the maintenance and improvement of our web and mobile application infrastructure, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. Work closely with the development team to understand the architecture and logic of the application, identifying areas for optimization and enhancement. Implement and manage continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for efficient code deployment and updates. Monitor application performance metrics and respond to errors and emergency problems, providing timely and effective solutions. Conduct security audits and perform necessary updates to protect data and maintain compliance with the latest security standards. Collaborate with the technical support team to troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by users. Update and maintain documentation related to application maintenance procedures, systems architecture, and deployment guidelines. Stay informed of the latest technology trends and advancements to suggest and implement tools, processes, or technologies that will enhance the platform's reliability and user experience. Qualifications
Proven experience in web and mobile application maintenance, with a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle. Proficiency in server-side languages and frameworks, with a preference for those with experience in Next.js, as utilized in our project. Solid understanding of database management and experience with NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies. Experience with monitoring tools and performance optimization techniques. Familiarity with web security practices, data protection technologies, and the implementation of secure authentication and authorization practices. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues. Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team.
