Oxbow Calcining LLC is currently looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team in Port Arthur, TX. This position is responsible for coordination with Quality and Process department to oversee plant's quality control. Responsibilities include quality/process improvement, training, inspection/calibration, quality assurance, and auditing to ensure expectations of customer satisfaction and quality control are met.
Position Duties Monitors, measures, and reviews analytical data and communicates results to pertinent departments. Monitors production data, taking corrective actions deemed appropriate for out of specification and product. Establishes analytical objectives for laboratory staff members and develop strategies for accomplishing this end through developed ASTM/ISO testing methods. Consults with and provides data interpretations for department heads. Maintains and supervises laboratory statistical process control program. Ensure that the calcining process is optimized and in a perpetual state of continuous improvement. Reviews daily production records and reports results to management. Responsible for developing or assist in quality/process improvement projects. Provides regular hygiene, housekeeping and equipment maintenance inspections and training. Responsible for the selection, assignment, development, review and appraisal of potential laboratory candidates and other in-service actions. Ensures work practices are in compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements. Provides training on equipment usage and safety. Conducts audits, inspections, and safety meetings. Purchases laboratory equipment, parts and supplies. Implements ISO program requirements into daily activities. Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff. Cross trains as needed as technical manager, process engineer, and lab supervisor. Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned. Develop, plan, and execute process improvement projects in conjunction with both Operations and Maintenance departments Coordinate with Production department to optimize overall product quality to meet customer specifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering related fields. Two years of experience in industrial laboratory experience preferred. Physical Requirements
Typically sits or stands for extended amount of time in front of a computer. May work outdoors which may include extreme working conditions and inclement weather conditions. As needed, lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Must be able to work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas. Must be able to handle working with petroleum coke products and use respiratory protection. Must be able to work with hand tools Must be able to load and unload heavy equipment, either with manual labor or by operating machinery. Must train in safety requirements at the facility. Must be required to move about to coordinate work. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Must be able to travel as needed Will be on call as needed Ability to communicate or exchange ideas by means of verbal or written word to impart information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed Instructions to other workers.
