BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS
Kinder Morgan operates 144 terminals across North America, handling storage, distribution, blending, and logistics for renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils, and more. Our terminals have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and process about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a 29-ton P&H Static Step overhead bucket crane safely and efficiently to lift, move, and position loads of petroleum coke, maintaining proper storage and loading from pit to grizzly hopper.
- Participate in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cranes, buckets, and related equipment.
- Perform general duties across all terminal operations as assigned.
- Maintain clear communication with team members via radio and other means.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain coke cutting equipment within the petroleum coke handling facility.
- Follow safety procedures and operating protocols to support zero-tolerance safety policies.
- Perform decoking techniques, paying attention to hot spots and using extra quenching when needed.
- Assist with un-heading and re-heading coke drums and perform final sweeps.
- Operate under fresh air conditions using SCBA or facemask breathing apparatus as required.
- Inspect equipment before and after use, report maintenance needs, and conduct audits on equipment.
- Perform troubleshooting on petroleum coke cutting equipment.
- Assist with cleaning operations and maintain housekeeping in the coke cutting area.
- Lubricate and maintain petroleum coke cutting equipment.
- Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, skid steers, forklifts, track hoes, backhoes, and wheel loaders to move petroleum coke safely and efficiently.
- Operate D-9 and D10 dozers, employing successive passes to level terrain and load out material for vessels.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, including lubricating, cleaning, and changing filters.
- Operate other equipment like excavators, forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, and man lifts, with certification as needed.
- Train on remote-controlled ship loaders and ensure safe and satisfactory vessel loading.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and correctly, training as necessary on various terminal equipment.
