Assistant Athletic Director
Position Description The Assistant Athletic Director would have the primary responsibility for oversight of middle school athletics at the Academy of the Holy Names. The job would entail working directly for the Athletic Director and in conjunction with the Middle School Principal, as well as working with the middle school coaches, athletes, parents, and AHN faculty and staff. This full-time, 10-month position requires working approximately from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday during the school year (or other hours as needed, noting flexibility). Additionally, the job will frequently require working in the evening and on occasional Saturdays throughout the school year.
Reports to: Athletic Director -> HS Principal/MS Principal
Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, Education, or related field (preferred) 2. 1-3 years of experience in athletics management (preferred) 3. Familiarity with FHSAA and FWCL regulations and compliance requirements across all FHSAA High School and Middle School Sports (preferred) 4. Coaching certifications through NFHS or NHSSCA (preferred)
Classification: Weekly schedules will vary according to the athletic season. NOTE: Could be eligible for a modest summer stipend to cover additional pre-season planning work.
Primary Responsibilities Oversight of all AHN middle school athletic teams, including: 1. Arranges middle school practice, game, and tournament schedules in conjunction with the Athletic Director and enters calendar and roster data into the Veracross System and FHSAA Home Campus System. 2. Plans and communicates all tryout, practice, game, and tournament schedules with the athletic coaches in conjunction with the middle school calendar and high school athletic calendar. 3. Serves as a liaison between middle school athletics and AHN's athletes, parents, and middle school administration. 4. Attends and represents AHN at all Florida West Coast League meetings and handles the scheduling of all AHN middle school contests, including scheduling officials for each contest. 5. Monitors the eligibility of student-athletes with the middle school administration and advises middle school coaches of any ineligible athletes. Also, informs coaches when students regain eligibility. 6. Coordinates seasonal parent meetings for all middle school teams following the conclusion of tryouts and before the start of regular season contests. 7. Assists the Athletic Director in creating the middle school athletics budget and is responsible for annual budget oversight.
Support of the overall Athletic Program 1. Assists the Athletic Director in the hiring and evaluation of middle school coaches. 2. Assists or handles coverage of some high school events throughout the course of the year. 3. Ensures compliance with all Safe Environment protocols as per DOSP and AHN Policy. 4. Coordinates the annual middle school athletic banquet and assists with high school athletic banquets, along with other major events such as annual tournaments, state series tournaments, Spike & Splash, and Jaguar Spirit Night. 5. Assists the Athletic Director with general responsibilities relating to the AHN athletic program and facilities, such as monitoring the gymnasium, identifying any issues or needs for athletic fields, and creating schedules for daily team use of the gymnasium. 6. Works with the Athletic Director in submitting check requests and deposits to AHN's Business Office. 7. Plans with the Athletic Director for the following year with creating seasonal planning calendars that allow for the plotting and coordination of middle school athletic tryouts, practices, and competitions for the following school year, along with high school sports. 8. Works with the athletic director to inventory all uniforms and equipment and handles purchasing of middle school needs in coordination with the approved annual budget. 9. Serves as a liaison and coordinator for an athletic intern via the University of Tampa's Sport Management program. 10. Monitors the submission of EL forms in conjunction with AHN's athletic trainer and submits necessary information into FHSAA's Home Campus system. 11. Assist with various additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Must be able to complete a Level 2 background check before beginning the position.
