This is a 12-month limited term position with the possibility to extend up to a maximum of 24-months and may become permanent.

Under the general supervision of the Supervising Special Investigator II, the Supervising Special Investigator I (SSI) will supervise and oversee all assignments within the Investigations Unit, which is comprised of 8 Special investigators who investigate the most complex cases for the division, monitor educators on probation with the CTC, and work with the Office of the Attorney General in preparation for matters heard at the Office of Administrative Hearings.

Department Information

The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is an agency in the Executive Branch of California State Government. It was created in 1970 by the Ryan Act and is the oldest of the autonomous state standards boards in the nation. The major purpose of the agency is to serve as a state standards board for educator preparation for the public schools of California, the licensing and credentialing of professional educators in the State, the enforcement of professional practices of educators, and the discipline of credential holders in the State of California. Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Major/Minor in criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology, business or public administration. Completion of introduction to criminal justice, introduction to criminal law, basic investigation, evidence, criminal procedure, philosophy of law. Experience working in a state agency in a Special Investigator position. Effective oral and written skills.

Explain your process for managing large volumes of tasks that require both accuracy and speed. What systems or habits do you rely on? Include an example where this process was tested?
