Job Summary
The Federal Grants Assistant helps administer the Federal Pell Grant, National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant, and Academic Competitive Grant (ACG) under the direction of the Federal Pell Grants Coordinator. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Helps oversee and administer federal grants data in Oracle Campus Solutions. Works with Federal Grants Coordinator to communicate updates to staff and students through email, phones, and other means. Helps evaluate eligibility of students for federal grants based on federal regulations and supervisor's instructions. Assists students in the financial aid process.
The Candidate is required to attend a mandatory orientation and training session with the immediate supervisor. Training will prepare the employee for handling specific financial aid inquiries and processing of federal, state, institutional and private aid. Job Category
Federal Work Study Desired Qualifications Excellent English and writing skills. Bilingual preferred. Ability to tactfully and effectively interact with college students and their families. Ability to pay close attention to details. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Who May Apply
Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package. Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.
