Job Description Salary: $65,000-$80,000 Senior Product Category Manager Super Bright LEDs is seeking a Senior Product Category Manager to lead the strategy, development, and performance of our LED lighting product categories on our e-commerce platform. This role focuses on retail category management and requires a strong understanding of eCommerce merchandising, product lifecycle planning, and market-driven decision-making.

The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in product and market analysis, pricing strategy, and supplier management to build and maintain a compelling, customer-focused product assortment. This position plays a key role in optimizing category performance, enhancing the online customer experience, and driving profitable growth through effective merchandising and strategic product planning.

Note: This position requires working in our Earth City, Missouri office with available options for a condensed workweek schedule (4-10 hour days or 4-9s and 1-4 hour day) and a flexible workday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Competition & Strategy Conduct ongoing competitive analysis across e-commerce and retail channels to monitor market trends, benchmark product offerings, and identify opportunities for category expansion and differentiation

Recommend new products, merchandising strategies, and promotional approaches that align with customer demand and support profitable category growth

Develop and implement competitive pricing strategies that drive online conversion and maintain healthy margins, while minimizing cannibalization across related product categories

Use insights from sales data, customer behavior, and competitor activity to continuously refine category strategy and positioning

Supplier & Product Development Collaborate with sourcing and procurement teams to identify and evaluate new suppliers and product opportunities that enhance category depth and competitiveness within the e-commerce marketplace

Ensure supplier capabilities meet quality, compliance, and fulfillment standards critical to supporting online retail operations

Negotiate product costs, minimum order quantities, and lead times to maximize margin performance and inventory efficiency

Define initial stocking strategies and order quantities using sales performance data, customer demand trends, and category benchmarks to support effective merchandising and minimize excess inventory

E-Commerce Merchandising Develop product briefs and collaborate with the Web Content and Creative teams to create accurate, engaging, and conversion-focused product listings that reflect retail category strategy

Ensure product titles, specifications, images, videos, filters, and cross-sell opportunities (e.g., products and accessories frequently bought together) are optimized to support discoverability, customer decision-making, and the overall online shopping experience

Partner with the marketing team to align product positioning, promotions, and seasonal campaigns with category goals and customer demand

Continuously review on-site merchandising performance to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure consistent execution of the brand and category strategy across the companys e-commerce platform

Category Performance & Lifecycle Management Own the end-to-end performance of assigned product categories by monitoring and analyzing key metrics such as sales, profit margins, conversion rates, and inventory turnover across the e-commerce platform

Identify actionable growth drivers - including pricing strategies, promotional effectiveness, product attributes, and customer engagement - to optimize category performance and profitability

Evaluate the success of new product launches using sales and site performance data, recommending adjustments to content, pricing, or assortment based on early insights

Manage the full product lifecycle by identifying and addressing underperforming SKUs, analyzing returns and customer feedback, and making informed decisions on product repositioning or discontinuation

Relationships & Collaboration Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support competitive pricing, reliable inventory availability, and the introduction of innovative, high-demand products that strengthen category performance within our e-commerce platform

Collaborate cross-functionally with sourcing, marketing, operations, and web content teams to ensure cohesive execution of category strategies, from product onboarding and merchandising to promotions and fulfillment

Serve as the key category owner, ensuring alignment across departments to drive sales, improve customer experience, and support overall business objectives

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field 5+ years of experience in retail category or buyer management, and/or e-commerce category management and merchandising Experience in the LED lighting industry or in managing technical product categories is preferred Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets and translate insights into actionable category strategies Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment Experience with web platforms or tools (e.g., content management systems, e-commerce platforms); familiarity with NetSuite or web design concepts is considered an asset
