The Mass General Brigham Medical Group is a system-led operating entity formed by Mass General Brigham to deliver high quality, low cost, innovative community-based ambulatory care. The Medical Group provides a wide range of offerings, including primary care, specialty care, behavioral and mental health, and urgent care, both digitally as well as at physical locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. The group also offers outpatient surgery and endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, and infusion. We share the commitment to delivering a coordinated and comprehensive experience across all locations, ensuring the appropriate level of care is available to every patient across our care delivery sites. The Elfers Cardiovascular Center is located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (2014 Washington Street, 2nd floor, in Newton, MA). Our team provides a wide range of outpatient care for patients who have a high risk of heart disease. We provide diagnosis, management of acute and chronic conditions, and preventive care. This is a full-time, 40-hour role expected to be onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices. Dedicated to clinical support, the Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician or advanced practitioner. Responsibilities: Coordinates pre-visit preparations including addressing the special needs of patients (i.e. comfort measures, communication, and other appropriate issues), ensuring relevant labs and tests are scheduled and completed prior to office visit, organization of paper chart, etc. Escorts patients to the exam rooms and take vital signs. Performs a variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice, including but not limited to: injections and EKG's. Obtains blood specimens in accordance with established procedures, while maintaining a professional, patient-sensitive atmosphere. Provides assistance to providers with office procedures. Prepares requisitions and submits specimens to the laboratory. Sends in electronic prescriptions for patients that have been instructed by providers. Communicates with patients regarding laboratory, imaging results and prescription instructions per practice protocol. Cleans and restocks exam rooms. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of any and all patient records including but not limited to treatment, diagnosis, history, medication, and financial status. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Emergency Medical Technician - Basic [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services preferred Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position. Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments. Accuracy and attention to detail. Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations. Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Managing one's own time and the time of others.
