Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert III (SME IV)
Northern Technologies Group (NTG) is seeking a Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert III (SME IV) with deep technical knowledge and operational insight to support mission-critical cybersecurity, data, or enterprise architecture efforts within the Department of Defense's SAP IT environment. The SME IV will provide high-level advisory support, technical analysis, and solution development for complex problems requiring specialized expertise and domain awareness in highly classified environments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide authoritative, enterprise-level guidance and decision support in specialized technical domains such as: Cybersecurity strategy and governance Data architecture and information integration Cross-domain or hybrid cloud architecture Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) Digital engineering, AI/ML, or zero-trust implementations Lead strategic studies, policy reviews, and technical architecture evaluations across SAP IT and DoD CIO programs. Direct the development of white papers, policy guidance, SOPs, and capability assessments that influence agency-wide decisions. Engage with senior government leadership, acquisition officials, and engineering teams to develop solutions and brief strategic recommendations. Mentor and advise junior SMEs, engineers, and analysts, guide teams through complex planning, analysis, and execution tasks. Serve as a lead contributor for high-visibility initiatives, including: Enterprise architecture alignment RMF authorization optimization Cybersecurity maturity improvement Technology modernization and insertion Shape and review system acquisition and engineering strategies to ensure technical soundness, cost-effectiveness, and policy compliance. Requirements Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) federal security clearance with eligibility for SAP access Ph.D in a field related to tasking (e.g., cybersecurity, engineering, information systems, intelligence) or equivalent years of experience. Minimum of 20 years of related technical experience Preferred Qualifications Proven track record supporting classified DoD or Intelligence Community missions Author or contributor to government standards, directives, or published technical frameworks Strong policy interpretation skills and experience drafting strategic-level documentation Deep knowledge of RMF, NIST, JSIG, and DoD cybersecurity or architecture frameworks Demonstrated ability to lead integrated teams across government, contractor, and mission partner environments Experience advising senior leadership (e.g., SES, Flag Officer, or Program Executive Office level) Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
