Job Overview: Search Solution Group is seeking an

Operations Controller

on behalf of our client, a company that specializes in providing flexible packaging solutions, producing custom-designed bags, pouches, and films for markets including food, personal care, and healthcare. This role is critical to leading financial operations across multiple manufacturing plants. The Operations Controller provides strategic financial leadership, ensures accurate product costing and reporting, and delivers insights that improve margins and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Multi-Plant Financial Management & Reporting Direct and oversee financial operations for all plants, consolidating results to provide a clear view of total manufacturing performance.

Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across multiple sites; ensure accurate COGS, inventory valuations, and intercompany transactions.

Standardize financial reporting and key manufacturing metrics across plants (e.g., conversion margin/lb, yield, scrap rates, labor productivity).

Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and corporate policies.

Cost Accounting & Product Costing Develop and maintain standard costing across plants, ensuring consistency of BOMs, routings, and overhead allocations.

Lead multi-plant variance analysis (price, cost, mix, volume, yield, efficiency) and communicate key drivers to leadership.

Partner with operations and procurement to execute cost-reduction initiatives and cross-plant best practices.

Provide financial analysis to support SIOP and capacity planning.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Analysis Drive the annual operating budget and rolling forecasts for all sites.

Perform scenario modeling and financial analysis to evaluate capital investments and plant optimization.

Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor productivity, margins, and cost trends.

Cross-Functional Business Partnering Serve as the primary financial advisor to plant managers and operations leaders.

Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and procurement to optimize sourcing strategies and production efficiency.

Provide financial insights for pricing strategies, new product launches, and customer profitability.

Leadership & Team Development Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

Establish standardized financial processes and controls across plants.

Requirements include:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

CPA or CMA strongly preferred.

Experience: 7-10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience in manufacturing.

3-5+ years in a multi-plant or multi-site role.

Skills: Strong knowledge of cost accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis.

ERP systems experience (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar).

Advanced Excel/financial modeling and data visualization expertise.

Excellent communication and leadership skills across dispersed teams.

Certifications: CPA or CMA strongly preferred.

Knowledge: GAAP/IFRS compliance and internal controls.

Deep understanding of manufacturing performance metrics.

Key Competencies: Strong business and operational acumen with plant-floor orientation.

Ability to translate financial data into operational insights.

Proven record of driving cost savings and margin improvements.

Skilled in change management and process standardization.
