Jupiter Power builds and operates utility scale energy storage projects. Jupiter has multiple Texas based projects in operation and under construction, and a pipeline of new projects which expand our project footprint into other states and regions. We have major office locations in Austin, Houston, and Chicago. In 2025, Jupiter has built-out multiple datacenter locations, implemented a Generation Management System, a Market Management System, 24x7 Trading Desk, and a 24x7 Remote Operations Center, and built out our first application platform using the latest virtualization technology.
Position Description: Sr. GMS/EMS Application Engineer
The Sr. GMS (Generation Management System) Application Engineer will be responsible for configuration of Jupiter's Generation Management System. Experience with Generations Management, Energy Management, or distribution SCADA is helpful.
The GMS is the primary control and monitoring application for Jupiter's Energy Storage Projects operating in ERCOT, and multiple future ISO connections.
Role will entail configuration of the SCADA database, front end processor, screens, protocol interfaces, ICCP links, MOS, ECA and AGC software, supporting the startup of the industry's first Energy Storage only, Generation Management System.
Ideal candidate would have expertise and experience in software development or light coding, with willingness to help bridge gaps and roles as the company builds a small, capable team of technology professionals.
Candidate should be familiar with ERCOT protocols and practices. Position will require candidate to train and develop other Jupiter employees who will operate the GMS and control the generation assets. The primary purpose for this role is to support the operation and development of the real-time trading and ROC desks, and to develop the GMS/MMS systems.
Position will be located in Austin or Houston, TX office with some travel required between locations. This role is hybrid and required to come into the office a minimum of three times per week.
Technology Experience
OSII Monarch platform, ECA, AGC, and MOS applications is required. SCADA system, DNP, ICCP protocols, OPC, MQT. RTAC and substation automation experience a plus. Ability to read prints and understand P&C diagrams for utility substations. Experiencing in developing operational displays and UIs. Experiencing working with historical databases, and reporting systems. Candidate Qualities
Motivated, self-directed, works well with others, collaborative, willingness to learn and expand skillset. Engineering or Computer Science degree. Ability to document and design. Minimum 5 years of experience working in the power generation industry.
