Education in Accounting, Finance or Business MBA and/or CPA preferred Two to five years of prior job experience in school finance preferred Ability to manage 1-3 employees Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Understand human resource management, labor laws, hiring practices, and recruiting. Understand confidentiality, Privacy Act, FERPA, HIPAA, FMLA, FSLA, and other local/state/federal HR policies and laws. Critical thinking and problem solving skills Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations. Knowledge of Colorado and Federal laws as they relate to the business affairs of school districts Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people. Nature and Scope:
To administer the business affairs of the district in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available. Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities of the school district. Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.

Operations and Human Resources
Manages the operations of the district office. Payroll Management.
Work with Human Resources to issue contracts and work agreements Initial processing and submission of the monthly payroll (bi-monthly rotating with Human Resources) Verifies and approves the monthly payroll to include processing liability checks (bimonthly- rotating with Human Resources)
Assist Human Resources in shopping, selecting and implementing staff fringe benefits. Assist Human Resources, Superintendent, and Curriculum Director in maintaining district job descriptions. Ensure all labor laws are followed to include COBRA and FMLA processes and procedures are followed by HR. Ensure all deductions are setup accurately and posting correctly. Balance all W2s before HR prints and distributes to employees. Assist Human Resources in shopping and selecting work compensation insurance.
Finance
Supervise the management of the financial affairs of the schools. Develops and recommends policies and programs for personnel recruitment, selection, and employment, employee relations, employee benefits and services, employee safety, personnel evaluation gathering, salary administration for the school district. Assumes responsibility for budget development and long-range financial planning. Collects and processes all major fund revenues. Understand and adhere to all grant budgets, recording of revenues and expenses accurately. Manages and oversee all funds. Create and present a sustainable salary schedule each fiscal year. Recommends salary increases and salary adjustments for all personnel. Establishes and supervises a program of accounting adequate to record in detail all money and credit transactions. Supervises all accounting operations. Supervises the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of all funds and record keeping. Administers purchasing and budget control systems for the district. Develops the annual budget of the school district Acts as advisor to the Superintendent on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the district. Arranges for and oversees the internal auditing of school accounts. Establish, maintain, and adjust the district's chart of accounts in compliance with state and federal changing environments. Manage user accounts in financial software. Works with Food Service Director to ensure eTrition is properly utilized and funds collected. Balances the eTrition funds. Prepare and manage District's Financial Transparency in accordance with state mandates. Interprets the financial concerns of the district to the board and community. Prepares financial reports for monthly board meetings. Assumes responsibility for the receipt and expenditure of school district funds. Provides monthly accounting of all income and expenditures. Prepares and analyzes all financial statements. Reconciles all bank accounts maintained by the Board. Send out monthly visa statement and activity debit card usage to all cardholders for reconciliation. Prepares reports to the proper staff officials concerning the status of their budgetary accounts to guard against overspending of any budgeted account. Maintains general, revenue, and appropriations ledgers on a cash basis. Responsible for scheduling and working with the selected auditor to complete the annual audit requirement. Responsible for CDE December Finance Reporting Approves all vouchers authorizing the expenditures of moneys.
