Purpose
Responsible for day to day inbound, outbound and third party domestic shipment requests. Accountable for the settings within SAP which control the selection of the carrier for shipments from the AbbVie DCs located in Lake County, IL. The Coordinator will work with the carriers to ensure established turn by turn directions are established for outbound truckload shipments are out of the AbbVie Lake County DC. This individual will use systems to plan and communicate bookings each week, and will keep the stakeholders informed of last minute changes. As the main interface on day to day bookings, this individual will be responsible for identifying and reporting logistical issues to all applicable parties in a timely manner. The individuals will be expected to resolve day to day operational issues with minimal direction from the Transportation Manager.
Responsibilities Manage and facilitate the booking process for domestic outbound, inbound and third party shipment requests. Work with carriers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to trouble shoot carrier related issues. Initiate carrier damage/loss investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions. Input findings into the Vivaldi Customer Complaint System as well as internal exception reporting system. Research and report U.S. Capacity and Driver Shortage conditions to management on a quarterly basis. Assist U.S. Customer Logistics Manager with carrier performance evaluations in support of Monthly and Quarterly Business Review. Assist in developing shipping strategy for outbound shipments for atypical events (product launches, Continuous Improvement Projects, Natural Disasters). Make updates within SAP as the carrier portfolio changes or as new routes are established. Generate and provide monthly Product Accrual Reports to AbbVie Global Supply Chain Finance. Assist the U.S. Customer Logistics Manager in requirements gathering for domestic carrier bids. Provide backup support on day to day operations for the International Transportation Coordinator as called upon. Qualifications
High School Graduate or a GED credential required. Associates or Bachelors degree in business or supply chain related field is a plus. Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems is a plus. A minimum 3 year experience in areas such as: logistics planning, distribution operations, transportation operations or freight dispatch within pharmaceutical industry preferred. Highly developed interpersonal skills and effective written and spoken communication skills are absolutely critical. Issue identification and strong problem analysis and solution development skills are required Proven ability for exceptional workload management and organizational skills. Demonstrated team player and ability to work in a cross cultural work environment. Proficiency with common program management communication software tools. (eg: MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel), and techniques (ie: plans, schedules, presentations) are required. Additional Information
