Technical Buyer
to join our premier client's team in
Bellevue, WA . This is a
full-time position,
starting as a
9-month contract.
This position supports major initiatives focused on compressor and air piping installations. As a Technical Buyer, you will play a critical role in supplier management, material readiness, pricing negotiations, and product catalog maintenance. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, collaborative, and technically complex environment.
We're looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Buyer with deep experience in vendor relations, cross-functional coordination, and product lifecycle management-particularly within compressor systems and air piping scopes. You will work closely with internal teams across Supply Chain, Engineering, and Project Management, as well as external suppliers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Request and review quotes for compressor and air piping materials from suppliers Lead negotiations to secure competitive pricing, timelines, and delivery terms Coordinate with ordering team to place and manage purchase orders Oversee material supply readiness, ensuring timely delivery to support project timelines Manage supplier escalations and troubleshoot delays or disruptions Support onboarding of new vendors and items; maintain pricing, catalog data, and item content Serve as a backup to Control Buyer and assist in training and documentation Communicate material ETAs to internal stakeholders and customers as needed Collaborate with cross-functional teams including ADTA Supply Chain, Engineering, and GPO Monitor supplier performance (cost, delivery, quality, capacity, safety) Review supplier proposals to ensure alignment with technical scope and cost targets Support ongoing product improvements and value engineering initiatives Administer change management in line with commercial agreements and project scope Develop alternate sourcing strategies to ensure continuity of supply and reduce costs Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, or related field 5-7 years of experience in a Buyer or Procurement role Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) Cross-functional project management experience, preferably in supply chain or technical environments Communication and writing experience for internal and external stakeholders Strong experience in vendor negotiations and supplier engagement Familiarity with compressor systems and air piping components (e.g., joints, T-joints, valves) Strong analytical and data management skills with the ability to interpret and act on complex data sets Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environment Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications
Experience sourcing in compressor, air piping, or construction-related industries Working knowledge of general contractor standards and troubleshooting (e.g., permitting issues) Experience supporting material buying for capital projects or industrial installations Background in program management and large-scale procurement initiatives Excellent communication skills for technical writing, supplier correspondence, and stakeholder alignment Demonstrated success working in high-ownership environments focused on delivering results
