Job Description:
The Buyer will assist the Buying Team in expanding selection by setting up new vendors and items, maintaining the product catalog, and managing pricing. Job responsibilities include new product launch & coordination, maintaining product cost, retail price, content and images, vendor relations, and assisting with special projects. Additional responsibilities include supporting and training as a backup to the Control Buyer.
Successful candidates will be highly organized, self-motivated, detail oriented and have strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point). An understanding of data management and databases is also a plus. The candidate must be able to work in a highly demanding, but collegial environment where teamwork is a must.
The Technical Buyer will handle the compressor and air piping install scope for all MLA initiatives in 2024 as the Material Buyer. He will be responsible for requesting and reviewing quotes, negotiating, working with the ordering team to place orders, managing supply readiness, and handling escalations. He'll work with our ADTA Supply Chain, Engineering, and GPO teams for the same. He'll also communicate with vendors to provide product ETAs to our customers as required. Based on a 40-hour work week, we expect them to use 10% of their time on requesting quotes, 20% on quote evaluations, 20% on negotiations, 40% on Supply Readiness, and 10% on managing escalations.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Develop and manage relationships with our key suppliers and business partners to enable and support project execution.
Review supplier designs and proposals to ensure that scope, pricing, and schedules support our business needs.
Support consistent work package sourcing processes consistent with our sourcing policies.
Facilitate suppliers' understanding of global policies, equipment design standards, budget and cost targets, service and quality expectations.
Drive suppliers' continuous improvement and value engineering in support of the program's performance metrics: quality, delivery, capacity, cost, and safety.
Monitor suppliers' supply chain, manufacturing, and human capital with respect to overall program objectives.
Administer a change management program that ensures the program is delivered per the supporting commercial agreement with a focus on cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
Develop alternate sourcing strategies to optimize costs and ensure continuity of supply.
Someone who can understand the compressor and air piping scope.
Required Skills
Negotiating and program management
Need to understand Compressor and Air piping, but open background. They will be dealing with air piping contractors. So, these candidates need to be able to understand air piping jargon (Joints, T joints, valves etc)
Supply chain negotiating experience
Requires program management experience
Years of Experience Required
5-7 years of buyer experience (electrical or compressor industry) preferred
Advanced MS Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)- 4+ Years
Data analysis - use tools to get averages of data, checking opinions on the data sets. Looking at which codes are higher-4+ Years
General contractor construction - knowledge of how to troubleshoot any issues that arise. (permit issues or other industry standards) - 4+ Years
Good negotiation- 4+ Years
Top 3 Must have hard skills

Education
Bachelor's degree in management or related field.
