Description TheUniversity of Illinois at Chicago Department of Microbiology and Immunologyseeks a Visiting Research Specialist who will focus on research and scientific techniques within thefields of molecular and cellular immunology and microbiology. The position willconduct research, develop experimental protocols and devise methods to applyscientific principles and theories in research projects.
Duties andResponsibilities Designexperiments related to immunology research using experimental mice. Performmolecular and cellular experiments to understand mechanisms. Engage in laboratory research, analyze data and information, evaluateand report findings to research staff. Oversee and mentor postdoctoral fellows and doctoral and medicalstudent trainees; participate in the oversight of laboratory activities. Write grant applications for extramural funding; prepare and submitresearch reports describing findings. Author publications in peer-reviewed journals, make presentations ofpapers to professional societies and develop new designs or techniques that areof material significance in the solution of important applied programs.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Immunology, biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or related field required. A minimum of 3 years of research experience is required.
