no one should die alone . Our
Vigil Care Volunteers
play a vital role in ensuring comfort, dignity, and peace for patients in their final hours and emotional support for families who may feel overwhelmed or afraid. Vigil Care is offered when death is imminent and may begin hours or even days before passing. Volunteers provide a gentle, reassuring presence and help carry out the hospice plan of care in close coordination with our clinical team. What Vigil Care Volunteers Do Depending on the patient and family’s needs, Vigil Care may include: Offering a calm and comforting presence Sitting quietly with the patient Engaging in gentle conversation or simply listening Sharing moments of silence Reading scripture, poetry, or meaningful texts Playing or sharing inspirational music Providing non-medical support to patient and caregivers Volunteer Requirements
: Complete a volunteer application and specialized training Pass a background check, fingerprinting, and TB test Have a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance Vigil Volunteers must be 18 or older
