Peckham Inc. - Facilities Grounds Coordinator
SUMMARY
The Grounds Coordinator provides oversight and coordination of work performed by outside contractors and the grounds team, as well as having the skills needed to maintain and improve the appearance and functionality of the exterior features of Peckham properties. Provide supervision of staff and team members involved in these activities. General assignments are received verbally or electronically from the Manager of Horticulture and Facilities and others. Duties may involve planting, pruning, weeding, watering, mulching, structural and irrigation repairs, IPM, including pesticide applications.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate contracted services as well as special projects involved in all aspects of grounds maintenance, including scheduled services, repairs, and projects.
Monitor and update the various service request and project management systems daily.
Work with the Facilities coordinator to optimize resource allocation.
Supervise Grounds Technician and Team Members; duties include planning, scheduling, and assigning work both from the I-Office work order system and from other sources and training personnel in proper methods and procedures.
Work alongside Farm and Facilities crews to complete work orders and other projects according to the work order system, or as assigned.
Use and train others in the use of common hand and power tools and techniques.
Horticultural duties including pest scouting and general maintenance related to turf, landscape beds, trees, flowers and shrubs.
Install, troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Manager of Horticulture and Facilities to diagnose and treat plant and turf problems.
Operation of plow truck and other snow and ice removal equipment.
Perform minor repairs on asphalt parking lots and drives.
Accurate Recordkeeping
Maintain safe and clean work environment
Promote Peckham’s vision values and services to all customers and stakeholders
Assist in maintaining organizational wide quality standards
Other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does have supervisory responsibilities for staff and team members.
Develop a unified team that reflects Peckham’s culture and values
Provide mentorship and coaching
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED
Two to five years of experience in grounds or facilities management.
One year of supervisory experience.
Basic knowledge of landscape and turf maintenance and equipment.
Pass and maintain a successful background check
Obtain and hold a valid Michigan driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Obtain and hold the following:
Degree or industry certification in horticulture or related field.
Fork lift license
CDL or chauffeurs license
Pesticide applicator license
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to kneel, sit, bend, walk, use fingers, hands, arms, and legs to handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to kneel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is at times exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, dust, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is often loud. The employee will be working outdoors during all seasons and be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and temperature extremes.
