Job Summary
As a Licensed Benefits Representative, you'll handle inbound customer calls related to employee benefit plans, voluntary benefits, claims, and general coverage inquiries. This is a remote role supporting the Voluntary Benefits (VB) and core benefits teams.
Responsibilities / Job Duties Respond to incoming calls from clients, members, providers, and employer groups. Assist with benefit plan details, claim statuses, coverage questions, and pre-certification information. Follow established scripts for Voluntary Benefits (VB) calls. Document interactions in systems like Flex, Alegis, Luminis, and internal ticketing tools. Maintain compliance with CMS and carrier regulations. Meet KPIs including average handle time and call quality. Education
High School Diploma Qualifications
No minimum years of experience required. Strong soft skills - Ability to stay calm and courteous in challenging calls. Previous customer service or call center experience is a plus. Ability to navigate multiple systems and retain technical details. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable working with diverse customers and team members. Schedule / Shift
Training: 1 week of paid VB training (approx. 25 hours). More advanced training added as capacity allows. Training Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM CST Post-Training Hours: Core staffing hours are 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM CST, flexibility needed until 6:00 PM CST Benefits
Paid Sick Leave (Medix provides paid sick leave according to state and local sick leave ordinances). Health Benefits / Dental / Vision (Medix offers 6 different health plans: 3 Major Medical Plans, 2 Fixed Indemnity Plans (Standard and Preferred), and 1 Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) Plan. Eligibility for health benefits is based on verifying that an average of 30 hours per week during the first 4 weeks of the work assignment has been met. If you meet eligibility requirements and take action to enroll, you will be covered no earlier than 60 days into your assignment, depending on plan selection(s)). 401k (Eligible on the first 401k open enrollment date following 6 consecutive months on assignment. 401k Open Enrollment dates are 1/1, 4/1, 7/1, and 10/1).
