Nebraska Department of Transportation / Business Technology Support Division is seeking a dedicated Application Developer to join our team of performance-driven professionals in helping to build the best of applications in support of NDOTs business units. NDOT utilizes Agile development methodology. Responsibilities
Perform front-end, middle-tier and back-end development. Analyze, program and test as needed; maintain legacy applications (minor new development) in Micro Focus Cobol, Cobol and CICS that interact with the Department's Information Systems. Assist with capturing business requirements, design, system architecture and development. Work as part of a software development team in the implementation of projects. Troubleshoot problems and provide support on existing products and services. Explore and gain a thorough understanding of the business. Maintain knowledge of the most recent COBOL coding practices. Experience with SQL utilizing DB2 (accessed by programs), writing queries in QMF and creating tables. Experience with JCL and job scheduling. Follow Department standards, methodologies, principles and processes; strong verbal and written communication skills; regular and reliable attendance. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with minimum 5+ years of development experience, or an equivalent technical degree in Computer Science. Experience with COBOL and CICS (candidates MUST be able to develop in COBOL AND CICS). Experience with SQL/DB2, QMF, and creating tables. Experience with JCL and job scheduling. Experience with IBM mainframe (z/OS) and TSO. Experience with full software development lifecycle and Agile/SCRUM is desirable but not required. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Experience

Experience with MicroFocus Cobol using App Master Builder and Native COBOL is preferred. Experience with highway inventory systems. Experience with SQL Server 2012 or higher.
