JOB DETAILS: Position: Mainframe Developer (Cobol/CICS) JOB REF#:43808 64848 Duration: 12+ Months (Contract) Location: ONSITE Lincoln, NE Pay Rate: $40.00 per hour (W2 only) This role is 100% ONSITE (LOCAL CANDIDATE ONLY) Responsibilities Seek to understand the business and requirements by exploring and analyzing the application context. Troubleshoot problems and provide support on existing products and services. Work as part of a software development team in the implementation of projects. Perform daily tasks of analysis, programming and testing as needed. Assist with capturing business requirements, design, system architecture and development. Maintain legacy applications (minor new development) in Micro Focus Cobol, Cobol and CICS that interact with the Departments Information Systems. Perform front-end, middle-tier and back-end development.
Required Skills / Experience
5+ years Mainframe Programming/Development experience (Must have RECENT/CURRENT experience coding programs in COBOL within the last year) Experience with SQL utilizing DB2 accessing by programs, writing queries in QMF and creating tables (required) Experience with JCL and job scheduling (required) Skilled in troubleshooting and weighing relative costs and benefits of potential actions Extremely detail oriented and able to follow Department standards, methodologies, principles and processes Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Technical Degree in Computer Science
Technical Skills
Cobol and CICS (candidates MUST be able to develop in COBOL AND CICS no exceptions) Job Control Language (JCL) and job scheduling IBM mainframe (z/OS) TSO All aspects of the software development lifecycle and workflow Visual Studio for source control SQL (Structured Query Language) DB2 QMF XPEDITER
Desired Skills
Experience in software development utilizing Agile with SCRUM Experience developing in MicroFocus Cobol using App Master Builder and Native COBOL (highly preferred) Experience with application development in highway inventory systems Experience with SQL Server 2012 and higher Experience with designing and building secure ASP.NET applications to program in C# as well as COBOL Experience with Web/Windows Services Experience with SSRS reports Experience with Agile development methodology of 2+ years Experience with Mainframe Migration (re-hosting or re-platform)
