Communications Manager - Bethesda Mission
Summary of Position
The Communications Manager will lead communications and public relations efforts, ensuring that the mission and impact of Bethesda Mission are communicated clearly and effectively to donors, partners, the media, and the broader community. This role combines creativity with strategy, requiring excellent written and oral communication skills, strong relationship-building ability, and proven grant writing experience.
All Bethesda Mission staff must:
Provides a biblically sound testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and leads a life worthy of that profession. Actively engages in private and corporate prayer, Bible Study, regular church attendance, and holy living.
Agree with and carry out responsibilities in accordance with the Mission's policies, including our Code of Conduct, Statement of Faith, Document on Sexual Sin and Brokenness, Value Statement and Narratives, and Mission Statement.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement communication strategies that promote awareness of Bethesda Mission's programs and initiatives.
Create compelling content for newsletters, donor appeals, social media, press releases, and the website.
Lead grant writing efforts: research opportunities, prepare proposals, and manage reporting requirements.
Ensure consistency of messaging and branding across all platforms.
Work closely with the Event Coordinator to support fundraising campaigns and events with communications that engage donors and stakeholders.
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, community partners, and funders.
Work closely with leadership to share impact stories and key updates with staff, donors, and supporters.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Fulfills speaking engagements as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
3-5 years of experience in communications, preferably in nonprofit or faith-based organizations.
Demonstrated success in grant writing and reporting.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Proactive and self-motivated, with creativity and initiative to tell stories that inspire action.
Commitment to the mission and values of Bethesda Mission.
Ability to effectively use a computer, including an understanding of database management.
