Campaign Director
Founded in 1891 by a group of visionary volunteers, The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) is the Massachusetts' premier conservation and preservation organization. The Trustees' preserves, for public use and enjoyment, properties of exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value in Massachusetts. Our properties are open to all, and we thrive by involving as many people as possible in all that we do. We aim to protect special places for future generations to enjoy in perpetuity, and have helped protect more than 50,000 acres, including 27,000+ acres on more than 120 reservations that are open to the public. As a non-profit conservation organization, we are funded and supported entirely by our visitors, supporters, volunteers, and our 100,000 Member households. Salary: $130,000 Hours per week: 40 Job Classification: Full-Time, Exempt Job Type: Hybrid Duration: The Campaign Director role will manage The Trustees' 5-year campaign Location: Boston, MA What You'll Do: As the Campaign Director at Trustees, you'll join a seasoned team of development professionals as we embark on an ambitious 5-year fundraising campaign. Your coordination and leadership will help us meet our 9-figure fundraising goal, ensuring the future success of the organization and its recently released strategic plan. The Role: As the Campaign Director you'll be responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of the for everyone, forever campaign, a comprehensive nine-figure fundraising initiative engaging individuals, foundations, corporations, and government partners. The campaign has been developed in partnership with CCS Fundraising and has entered an active implementation phase. As Campaign Director you will inherit a robust campaign framework and be responsible for adapting and executing it in collaboration with internal and external partners. You'll take on a role that is both strategic and tactical, requiring a collaborative leader who can drive campaign momentum, deepen donor engagement, and ensure operational excellence. You'll also work closely with internal teams, Board members, and external stakeholders to meet ambitious fundraising goals and advance The Trustees' mission through its new strategic plan. Specifically, you'll be responsible for: Campaign Leadership: Lead the implementation and daily management of the campaign, guiding all phases from the leadership and major gifts stages through the public launch and to a successful completion. Foster a disciplined, goal-oriented campaign environment grounded in fundraising best practices, with clear benchmarks and accountability. Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual donors, foundations, and other key stakeholders. Establish solicitation priorities and support staff, Board members, and volunteers in donor engagement and solicitations. Prospect Management: Oversee prospect research and develop detailed donor profiles and solicitation strategies. Manage a comprehensive donor pipeline and lead regular review meetings with frontline fundraisers to ensure consistent progress. Campaign Operations: Maintain key campaign tools, including an annotated table of gifts, a catalog of recognition opportunities, and a list of funding priorities. In partnership with the Director of Development Operations, provide timely campaign updates, performance metrics, and strategic analysis to the Campaign Committee, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership. Donor Stewardship & Communications: Collaborate with the Director of Development Operations to ensure timely and meaningful donor acknowledgments and stewardship. Draft and manage donor communications, including letters, emails, briefings, and campaign-related materials. Marketing & Collateral Development: Oversee the creation and production of campaign print and digital collateral in partnership with the Chief Development Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. Produce campaign reports, brochures, and other communications as needed. Events & Engagement: Plan and execute campaign cultivation and recognition events in collaboration with the Director of Development and Governance Events. Team Leadership & Culture: Contribute to the leadership of a high-performing Development team and help foster a strong, organization-wide culture of philanthropy that extends beyond the campaign. Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Development Officer. This is a full-time, exempt five-year position reporting directly to Chief Development Officer.
