Sarasota County Government is offering a professional position with responsibilities and activities including engineering design, project management, permitting, cost estimating, and construction oversight of stormwater improvement projects. Additional activities include public interaction, assessment of drainage issues based on County's adopted level of service and preparation of engineered solutions to address such issues. Engineering solutions may include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water quality modeling, drainage design, ArcGIS analysis, preparation of flood studies, and/or floodplain mapping. Position requires coordination with multiple internal departments as well as local, state and federal agencies. Job Description: Assessment of stormwater issues includes public interaction and education regarding County level of service and water quality requirements. Has led on in-house stormwater projects to address multiple issues including flood protection, water quality protection, stormwater repair and replacement coordination, low impact design implementation, and operations of stormwater treatment facilities. Duties include engineering design, permitting, cost estimating, budget and schedule control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water quality modeling, GIS analysis, and technical reports as required in support of the project. Work with and provide guidance to Technical Specialists. Project Management includes preparation of construction plans, scope of services, and oversee the administration of contracts. Development of scopes, schedules and costs of design; includes oversight of project budget, schedule and design intent. Coordination with Capital Projects managers. Coordinates with operations staff inspecting permitted County stormwater systems. Review, prepare, certify, and submit Statement of Inspection forms as required by the SWFWMD. Perform other related duties as assigned. Attends meetings, workshops, and training activities to ensure professional and personal growth. Work Hours: Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. About You Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university Engineering or technically related engineering field plus four years related engineering project experience. A Master's Degree in Engineering or related field may substitute for one year of required experience. This position also requires a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire. If candidate has an out-of-state P.E. s/he must obtain a Florida P.E. within one-year from date of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Prefer experience with AutoCAD, ICPR, GIS Job Competencies: Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ICPR, ArcGIS, and knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to stormwater management. Ability to analyze O&M construction issues and develop and implement appropriate procedures for correction.
