Admissions Counselor, First-Time Traditional
JOB LOCATION: On Campus
JOB SUMMARY
Spalding University is seeking an energetic, student-focused
Admissions Counselor
to recruit prospective first-time undergraduate students and guide them through the admissions process. This role is essential to the success of the University's recruitment and enrollment goals and will require strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
The Admissions Counselor will serve as a key point of contact for prospective students and their families-engaging them through personalized outreach across multiple communication channels. This position also includes representing the university at various recruitment events, developing relationships with high school counselors and community organizations, and supporting applicants from initial inquiry through enrollment.
Travel, including some evenings and weekends, is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage an assigned territory of prospective students and serve as their primary point of contact throughout the admissions process. Develop and maintain communication with prospects via phone calls, personalized emails, text messages, and social media outreach. Respond to inquiries and follow up with prospective students in a timely and professional manner. Document all student interactions and communications in the University's CRM (Slate). Conduct interviews, information sessions, and one-on-one meetings (in-person and virtual) to guide students and families through the admissions process. Coordinate and participate in college fairs, high school visits, campus tours, and recruitment events-both on and off campus. Host prospective students and families for individualized campus visits and group tour days. Evaluate and review academic transcripts and application materials. Track and monitor student progress through the admissions funnel and work toward meeting enrollment goals. Use demographic and behavioral data to assess outreach effectiveness and recommend process improvements. Serve as a liaison between the Office of Admissions and designated academic departments or student support offices. Assist in developing and executing targeted communication plans and content strategies for prospective student segments. Support new student orientation and yield events. Promote and support the mission and vision of Spalding University. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
At least one year of experience in admissions, customer service, recruitment, sales, or related fields (e.g., tourism, hospitality). Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Must have access to reliable transportation and hold a valid driver's license. Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and occasionally out of state (approximately 15-20 nights of travel during peak season) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Demonstrated success in student recruitment or sales. Experience using Slate or other CRM platforms. Comfort with public speaking and presenting to both large and small audiences. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic data reporting tools. Team-oriented with a collaborative spirit and a student-first mindset. Respect for and sensitivity to working with diverse populations. Creative thinker with a willingness to innovate and improve existing processes. Ability to maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and university policies.
