Position Overview
RIVA Solutions is seeking a Network Security Analyst to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the NEITS program. This role provides operational security support to NOAA’s N‑Wave program security team, with responsibilities spanning vulnerability scanning, remediation, risk acceptance, incident response, and attack surface management. The position requires collaboration with IT Security Specialists, Systems Engineers, and Network Engineers. Core Responsibilities
Collaborating with N‑Wave engineers to process vulnerability scanning tickets, ensuring mitigations and risk acceptances are accurate, justified, and tracked for compliance. Configuring, executing, and analyzing vulnerability scans across diverse device groups to meet compliance requirements. Developing and refining dashboards and reporting mechanisms in vulnerability management software, ensuring actionable insights are communicated to the N‑Wave Security Program Manager. Monitoring higher‑level directives and policies (e.g., DHS BODs, Executive Directives, NOAA ITSM, DOC ITSBP) and aligning N‑Wave procedures accordingly. Responding to Service Discrepancy alerts by working with engineers to adjust service exposure and maintain accurate documentation. Investigating Undocumented Node alerts to ensure all network assets are identified, validated, and documented. Overseeing RBAC changes, node KVP reports, and other system notifications to maintain visibility into security‑related configurations. Advising the N‑Wave ISSO on significant developments involving GlobalNOC security tools. Responding to incidents via NOAA’s NIRRA system and the Security Operations Center (SOC) to ensure timely and appropriate action. Processing DHS Cyber Hygiene scans and IP attribution requests to minimize the attack surface for all N‑Wave customers. Coordinating with OCIO and responding to security‑related communications in partnership with the N‑Wave ISSO. Conducting reconnaissance, scanning, and penetration testing activities to identify vulnerabilities in N‑Wave security architecture and recommend improvements. Minimum Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a technical field 2–4 years of related IT experience Expertise with network and systems administration Expertise in core protocols and concepts (TCP, UDP, NAT, DNS, DHCP, SSL, SSH) Proficiency in terminal/command‑line operations (Linux/Unix/MacOS/Juniper/Cisco) Familiarity with FISMA and NIST standards Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience supporting NOAA or other mission‑driven federal scientific agencies Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CEH, CISSP, etc.) Salary
