As we continue expanding in the food packaging sector, we are seeking a Project Engineer who is eager to grow their career while contributing to exciting product development and commercialization opportunities. The Project Engineer will be the driving force behind new product design and development in food packaging. This individual will focus on understanding customer intent through strong discovery, ensuring packaging solutions are designed with clarity, purpose, and manufacturability in mind. By combining critical thinking with hands-on technical execution, the Project Engineer will lead projects from concept through production launch, directly shaping the growth of the business. What Youll Be Doing Lead the product design and development process for new food packaging solutions from concept through launch. Conduct strong discovery with customers and stakeholders to fully capture requirements, intent, and end-use needs. Translate customer intent into 3D product designs, prototypes, and product specifications. Apply critical thinking to evaluate risks, identify opportunities, and develop creative, manufacturable solutions. Support thermoforming process development, tooling trials, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Quality to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to specification. Drive continuous improvement in design standards, material selection, and manufacturability. Maintain strong awareness of industry trends, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory requirements in food packaging. Prepare technical documentation including drawings, specifications, and validation reports. Grow into a leadership role by taking on larger projects, mentoring team members, and helping shape the future of the business.

Location

This position is an onsite position located out of our DeKalb, IL Facility. Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 25 years of experience in product design, packaging engineering, or thermoforming preferred (food packaging experience a plus). Strong knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks or similar). Excellent problem-solving, discovery, and critical thinking skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Growth-oriented mindset with ambition to expand responsibilities.
