Comprehensive Training: Entry-level candidates receive extensive training to gain the skills and knowledge to succeed in this role. Shift Incentives: $2.00/hr shift differential for overnight shifts (7:00 PM 7:00 AM). $1.00/hr premium for working unplanned overtime. $1.00/hr bonus for being a Trainer while actively training others. Work Schedule Training Period Work a day shift schedule to develop the skills and knowledge for this position. Core Hours Day Shift: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM Night Shift: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM Work (3) consecutive 12-hour shifts, followed by a 6-hour shift on the 4th day. Schedule includes weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to ensure 24/7 coverage. What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities As a 911 Dispatcher, you will: Serve as the primary point of contact for all 911 emergency and non-emergency calls in Frederick County. Quickly assess the nature of calls, determine priorities, and dispatch police, fire, or emergency medical services. Provide pre-arrival safety instructions to callers during life-threatening situations. Maintain clear and concise communication with public safety responders via radio. Monitor and track emergency personnel and resources using Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems. Access and interpret information from state and national databases to assist responders. Work collaboratively with other agencies, citizens, and businesses to coordinate emergency response efforts. What We're Looking For: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Must work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Proven ability to listen actively and resolve conflicts calmly and effectively. Maintain focus, clarity, and efficiency in high-stress or emergency situations. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft suits (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
