Do you thrive in environments where you can shape how internal and external developers discover, onboard, and consume APIs? Huntington is seeking an experienced and innovative API Gateway Dev Portal Lead to drive the design and development of our next-generation Developer Portal. This role is ideal for a hands-on technologist with experience in Dev Portal platforms, external/B2B/SaaS integrations, and cloud-native development on GCP. You'll lead engineering efforts to deliver a seamless API onboarding experience, integrating with Apigee X, Ping Identity, and modern documentation tools like ReadMe. Lead the architecture and development of Huntington's Developer Portal using React, Spring Boot (FUSE), and GCP-native services. Integrate the portal with Apigee X for API discovery, testing, and lifecycle management. Customize and extend ReadMe for API documentation and developer onboarding workflows. Implement secure authentication and authorization using Ping Identity, OAuth2, and JWT. Design and build scalable backend services to support portal features such as API registration, analytics, and feedback. Collaborate with UX, product, and platform teams to deliver a user-centric experience. Ensure high availability, performance, and security of the portal using GCP tools like Cloud Run, Bigtable, Cloud Armor, and IAM. Support CI/CD automation and infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and Cloud Build. Mentor engineers and contribute to code reviews, design sessions, and agile ceremonies. Perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. 7+ years of software development experience. 3+ years of experience building or integrating with Developer Portals or external/B2B/SaaS platforms. Hands-on experience with React, Java/Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs. Experience with Apigee X, including proxy integration and API publishing workflows. Familiarity with GCP services such as Cloud Run, IAM, Bigtable, and Cloud Armor. Experience with OAuth2, JWT, and identity integration (e.g., Ping Identity). CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, or similar tools. Experience customizing ReadMe, Swagger UI, or other API documentation platforms. Exposure to API governance, lifecycle management, and developer onboarding strategies. GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Developer, Apigee API Engineer). Experience with Terraform and infrastructure automation. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively across IT, vendor, and business teams.
