Customs Compliance Specialist - TCRS4552 HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW The Customs Compliance Specialist supports import entry process activities, ensuring they comply with applicable customs and other government agencies’ regulations. This position manages documentation, record keeping, coordinating with customs officials and brokers, and advising internal teams on compliance matters to avoid delays, penalties, or compliance issues. This position is 100% in-office near Detroit, MI. Expectations Review and verify customs declarations and documentation for accuracy prior to submitting to CBP Classify goods using Harmonized System (HS) codes and ensure proper valuation Coordinate holds and exams with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies Monitor regulatory changes and update internal procedures accordingly. Conduct internal audits and implement corrective actions for non-compliance Maintain accurate records of all import/export documentation. Provide training and guidance to staff on customs compliance. Understand special programs; FTAs, duty drawback, AD/CVD, etc Analyze data and prepare reports to support KPIs Ability to work well in high pressure situations and adjust to changing environments Essentials 2–4 years of experience in customs compliance, operations, and entry writing High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred Solid knowledge of HTS classification, country of origin, valuation methods, and trade agreements, etc. Familiarity with customs software i.e. CargoWise and ACE Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or similar certification is a plus.
