System Administrator II
to support and enhance our global IT infrastructure with a focus on data retention systems. This role is responsible for managing and optimizing enterprise server environments across multiple international sites. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in both Windows and Linux systems, virtualization, automation, and enterprise storage, and will serve as a senior escalation point for complex system issues. Key Responsibilities
Administer and support over 600 Windows Servers (Windows Server 2016 and newer) and 120 SUSE Linux systems (SLES 12/15), ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with SLAs. Manage and upgrade VMware vCenter 7+ environments with 40+ ESXi hosts on Cisco UCS hardware. Maintain and optimize virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) using Omnissa Horizon and Remote Desktop Services (RDS). Write and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency. Perform routine and advanced SQL Server maintenance, including backups, restores, and job scheduling. Configure and manage enterprise storage systems, particularly DELLEMC Unity SAN arrays. Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues from Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system administration tasks, ensuring alignment with security and compliance standards. Collaborate with application development, cybersecurity, and project management teams to implement new systems and services. Support integration and administration of enterprise tools such as Active Directory, GPO, DHCP, DNS, DFS, file shares, and print services. Participate in vulnerability management and remediation efforts using tools like CrowdStrike and Qualys. Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 5 years (7+ preferred) of experience in enterprise-level Windows Server administration. 5+ years of experience managing and troubleshooting Linux environments, ideally SUSE Linux. 5+ years of experience scripting with PowerShell for automation and administration. 7+ years of experience managing VMware environments on Cisco UCS with enterprise SAN storage. Experience with Omnissa/VMware Horizon VDI administration. Strong understanding of Microsoft enterprise technologies (Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, DFS, file/print services). Familiarity with enterprise backup, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
ITIL Certification or equivalent process framework experience. Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments. Exposure to hybrid cloud or cloud migration projects is a plus.
Soft Skills & Attributes
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams. Detail-oriented with a focus on documentation and process improvement. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment.
