Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Network - Network Engineer III (25-480) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not offer relocation support and requires working on-site with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The

Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC)

program is the

integration backbone

of the Missile Defense System. It enables U.S. strategic defense leadership to:

Plan and execute missile defense operations.

Monitor and manage the real-time development of global defense scenarios.

Integrate and synchronize autonomous sensors, weapon systems, and operations to deliver seamless defense capabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Network Engineer to join our dedicated team, which supports the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program. The C2BMC program plays a vital role in helping U.S. strategic decision-makers manage missile defense operations effectively, with advanced integration of sensors and weapon systems worldwide.

The Principal Network Engineer will play a crucial role in advancing the success of the C2BMC Program by implementing top-tier solutions to support layered missile defense and ensure peak system performance. Your work will directly influence our national defense capabilities and mission readiness.

Essential Functions:

Support the C2BMC Program as a primary Network Engineer

Plan, deploy, integrate, and test network upgrades at operational sites

Troubleshoot and resolve network issues while providing real-time status updates to Program Personnel

Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and delivering presentations

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, and agile environment

Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a focus on delivering results

Experience with

Microsoft Office Suite

, specifically PowerPoint and Visio, for technical documentation and presentations

Basic Qualifications:

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Engineering (CPE), Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology (IT), or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued

Secret

security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance

Applicants must have a current active DoD 8140 certification at

IAT Level II or higher

(such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.), which is required to start

Willingness and ability to travel to various operational sites, including Schriever Space Force Base, Alaska, Guam, and Europe, for deployments to other locations, are a crucial part of this role

Network Design & Methodologies

: Expertise in network architecture, testing, and development

Networking Protocols

: Strong knowledge of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and VPN technologies

Experience with

UDP Multicast, TCP/IP designs, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, and GRE Tunnels

Hands-on experience with

firewalls

(Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto) and optical transport equipment

Certifications Required:

Active

CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)

or

JNCIA (Juniper Networks Certified Associate)

Multivendor Equipment Proficiency

: Expertise in configuring and managing network devices, including Cisco and Juniper routers/switches, WAN optimizers, and TACLANE encryption devices

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
