High School Social Worker Job Description
Reports to:
High School Building Principal
Description:
Seeking a highly qualified Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Masters' Social Worker to support identified students and families with intensive school and home intervention. Emphasis should be placed on promoting student success, addressing family barriers, and creating interventions that are strength-based and focus on providing clinical, supportive and concrete services to address the individual needs of families and students.
Qualifications:
Highly qualified with valid NYS teacher certification in school social work. Experience working within an MTSS, team-based system Expertise in developing and maintaining positive, collegial working relationships with stakeholders. Responsibilities:
Provide support and counseling services to students addressing personal, emotional, or social issues that may be impeding their behavior, educational progress, and development Knowledge of developmentally appropriate learning strategies, social-emotional supports, and behavioral interventions Experience coordinating with community agencies and providing families with available resources Responsible for making a connection between home and school; Scheduling home visits when necessary Provide mandated counseling to special education students Ability to facilitate student groups focusing on the needs of the students and the school Provide transition services to students returning from suspension Provide transition services for students with IEPs and 504s Collaborate with staff to provide classroom lessons based on the needs of the students Serves as a member of the Multi-Tiered System of Support Team (MTSS) Ability to function as part of the Student Success Team including advocacy, leadership, and collaboration Have excellent written and verbal communication skills Competent in the use of technology, information systems, and communications to assist student learning and wellness Perform other responsibilities as assigned by building or district administration based on district initiatives Assessment and data to be used in family needs assessment. Providing crisis counseling when appropriate. "In Depth" smoking/vaping cessation counseling Engage in on-going professional development to increase knowledge of evidence-based supports for all students, targeted students and students who represent sub-group populations. Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions. Consult with school psychologist, counselors, and teachers. Potential flexible scheduling while working within our Family Resource Center. Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
