We are seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer to join our team, focusing on projects within the automotive industry. This role involves working with robotic cells primarily used for material handling tasks, such as battery handling and vehicle emblem placement. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and debugging the control systems, ensuring smooth operation and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Program, troubleshoot, and debug robotic material handling cells.
Set up safety protocols, load programs, and ensure systems are operational.
Travel to various GM plant locations as needed to support installations and provide production support.
Interact with customers on-site to ensure their needs are met and systems are functioning as expected.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in controls engineering.
Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
Experience with Dual Check Safety systems and safety guards.
Familiarity with GM standards and material handling systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in programming and troubleshooting controls systems for at least 5 years.
Ability to bring safety systems online and load programs without creating logic from scratch.
Proven track record of working on-site and engaging in customer interactions at plant locations.
Work Environment
This position is part of a team of 30 professionals in the Robot & PLC Group, with half focusing on PLC/Controls (Design & Software) and the other half on robotics. The role involves approximately 25% travel to various GM plant locations, primarily for 1-2 week installations. The team values a collaborative environment where learning and growth in robotics are highly encouraged.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
