Electrical Engineer IV-Substation Design
Location: Corona, CA
CLP Engineering (CLPE) is growing our engineering team in Corona, and seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer IV- Substation Design with a PE license and 8+ years of engineering/utility Industry experience to join us. Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US citizen.
CLPE is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.

Duties & Responsibilities: * Design sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial/industrial power distribution systems. * Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems. * Develop/review complex electrical system models and validate various system study findings/recommendations. * Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus. * Create system model for large-scale power system in ETAP (or similar software) and perform various power system analysis/studies. * Develop bill of material and technical specifications for various electrical projects. Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine project requirements. * Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation. * Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems. * Update and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems. * Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop concept design, and present the design to CLPE Management and the customer. * Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects. * Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes. Enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M, replacement/renewable and new installations. * Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios and assist crew to implement corrective actions. * Maintain in-depth knowledge of power system protection and relaying schemes for electrical distribution system. * Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders. * Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding the basis of cost estimate. * Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance and support to help them grow in their professional careers.
Project Management Duties: * Preparation of project construction schedules * Submission of request for information to clients. * Act as primary point of contact for projects and facilitating design/review process. * Coordinate meetings, scheduling updates, submitting deliverables, and addressing outstanding open items as requested by clients.

Skills and Qualifications: * BS degree, Electrical Engineering, from accredited university with emphasis in power systems required. * PE License required. * Minimum of eight (8+) years of work experience in the electric utility industry. * Expert knowledge with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution system required. * Expert with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination required. * Experienced in blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services required. * Ability to prepare and maintain construction project schedules in Microsoft Project. * Experience with ETAP or similar software. * Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Travel: * 20-30% travel
Other Requirements: * You must be a U.S. citizen. * You will be required to obtain Military Base Security Access Clearance. * Valid driver's license required.
Benefits & Compensation: * We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays. * Salary range: $130,000-$170,000 based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan. * We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
