ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders. PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Recovery Peer Specialist to join our team in providing peer support services to individuals in a hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have personal experience in recovery and a strong desire to use that experience to support others managing opioid use disorder (OUD) and/or polysubstance use disorders.

Links individuals with Substance Use Disorder, substance use/opioid-related overdose survivors, those with health-related issues due to substance use to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), detox, and various inpatient and outpatient programs.

Uses time spent communicating with those in the hospital/community to assist in initiating treatment and engage patients in on-going treatment and recovery support.

Provides educational resources, community resources and support to participants and their friends, family, and caregivers regarding overdose prevention, treatment for substance use disorder, and recovery support.

Provides triage, screening and evaluation services to determine appropriate level of care. Is responsible for timely, professional documentation and data collection according to Operation PAR standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate's degree or higher preferred. A minimum of three (3) years in sustained recovery from substance use. Must have a willingness and ability to appropriately share lived experience in a professional healthcare environment. One year of experience working in the field of behavioral health preferred. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Ability to write accurately and legibly Ability to bend, stoop and reach Ability to move throughout program facilities both indoors and outdoors Ability to lift and carry 10 pounds Good hearing and vision (Reasonable accommodations will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.)

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS:

Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) - full or provisional certification required within 6 months of hire SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must pass a level II background and drug screen Valid driver's license required
