Volunteer About Mentor A Promise Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a youth-centered nonprofit dedicated to supporting students ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, social-emotional learning, academic enrichment, and creative expression, we create safe, consistent, and empowering spaces for young people to grow, thrive, and succeed. We believe every child deserves a promise kept — and we work every day to make that promise real. Role Overview We are seeking a Volunteer Partnerships Director to lead MAP’s efforts in cultivating and managing strategic relationships with schools, nonprofits, corporations, and civic leaders. This role will be instrumental in expanding our impact across New York City by identifying new collaboration opportunities, securing institutional support, and ensuring partnerships are sustainable and mission-aligned. The ideal candidate is a visionary connector and relationship-builder, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and translate partnerships into tangible outcomes for students and families. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement MAP’s overall partnership strategy. Identify, cultivate, and manage high-impact partnerships with schools, corporations, community organizations, and government agencies. Lead outreach efforts and represent MAP at external events, meetings, and conferences. Negotiate and oversee partnership agreements, MOUs, and collaborative projects. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure partnerships strengthen programming and fundraising. Track partnership outcomes, impact, and ROI, and present regular updates to leadership. Work closely with the Director of Development and Grants to integrate partnerships into donor and CSR strategies. Requirements Proven leadership experience in partnerships, community engagement, or development. Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to represent MAP professionally with diverse stakeholders. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Commitment to equity, education, and supporting underserved youth. Preferred Skills Established network within NYC education, nonprofit, or corporate sectors. Experience in nonprofit leadership or corporate social responsibility (CSR). Familiarity with CRM tools, databases, or partnership management systems. Public speaking and advocacy experience.
